How might you use a blog to share what you know or promote your business better? Are the illustrations you are using with your social media and blog posts working for you or against you? How is writing a podcast or public service announcement script different from writing a blog post or a press release? What guidelines for creating PowerPoints will help you keep your audience awake and engaged?

Everyone can communicate more effectively! My 4-part series of classes at Ruston Artisans will give you the tools you need. The classes will be fun and informative, and present effective, research-based strategies. If you must communicate as part of your job, or if you want to be a more effective communicator in your personal life, these classes are for you.

Here’s the schedule:

• Saturday, April 1, 9-11:30 a.m. – Blogging 101
• Thursday, April 13, 6-8:30 p.m. – Illustrating Professional Communications
• Saturday, April 29, 9-11:30 a.m. – Writing for the Ear (Podcasting)
• Thursday, May 4, 6-8:30 p.m. – PowerPoints that Work

As you can see, each class will run an hour and a half. The charge is $30 per class or $100 for all four. If you aren’t sure you can make all four, no problem. You can pay as you go and if you make all four, you’ll receive your discount on the last class.

I’m a professor emerita of communication at the University of Louisiana Monroe. I taught this material for 20 years, enjoyed it, and am looking forward to this new version of teaching communication.
