Birds & Blooms opens Saturday, June 26, at Ruston Artisans on West Alabama St. in Ruston with a reception from 5 until 7 p.m. Box Leangsuksun is featured artist. I am delighted to be a supporting artist, along with Jeff Perot.

The show should be a tour de force of, well, birds and blooms, of course. Leangsuksun travels the world to create his extraordinary nature photography. Perot and I represent a more local perspective.

That being said, for this show I have prepared a few pieces featuring the exotic birds of the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rice, which I visited in 2019: the toucan above, a crested owl, and a fiery-billed araçaris. My local birds are also still at the gallery, in my co-op space in the back room.

For blooms, I’ve prepared prints of some of Louisiana’s harder to locate, exotic wildflowers: the pinewoods lily above, a Carolina lily, and a grasspink orchid.

I’m looking forward to a gorgeous show. Again, the opening reception is Saturday, June 26, 5 to 7 p.m. Ruston Artisans is at 203 West Alabama Ave. in Ruston. Hope to see some of my local friends there!
