My rather crazed existence does not give me the time to do nearly as much of the thing that makes my soul sing as I need and desire. I must carve out and take moments here and there.
Yesterday I spent most of the day at a 5-hour meeting about 2 hours from home. It was an important meeting. Good work was done. But, of course, I would always rather be out with my camera!
So I take it along. Coming home the weather had turned chill, rainy and gloomy, so actually stopping for 20 minutes of late afternoon light in the woods wasn’t an option.
Nevertheless…. I kept my eyes peeled for photo opps. I had seen this hawk before. It’s territory is a stretch along Hwy 165 south of Monroe.
Sure enough! And with no one right behind me, I slammed on the brakes and pulled over. This is the second of two frames I got before it flew.

BTW, if anyone is in the bumper sticker business, I need one that says “I brake for hawks on telephone poles”!
