Heart Beat

“You came all the way from Louisiana for this opening?” The questioner was a staffer at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute in Jamestown, NY. “Yes,” I said, and by way of explanation, “What you are doing here is my heart beat.” My piece in the “Art That Matters: Interconnectivity” exhibit is right up front, the second or third piece you’ll see walking into the exhibit. And I love what they say about it. Right on! The exhibit occupies several rooms at the Institute and is well worth the effort. You will see trees in a different light after you have…

Sometimes…

…you just gotta go! June 27 I’m heading to Jamestown, NY, for the opening reception of an art exhibit at the Roger Tory Peterson Institute. The show is called “Art That Matters to the Planet 2023: Interconnectivity,” and it includes my piece, Ghost Dancers. I routinely have artworks in shows around the country and I rarely go to opening receptions. It’s just too time-consuming and expensive. So why is this one a “gotta go”? Well, first there’s the theme. “Art that matters to the planet” is certainly what I aspire to! The subtheme, “Interconnectivity” also resonates, being defined in the…

Indeed, Mirage owes it’s overall blue tone to a blue, blue sky, which functions a lot like putting a blue filter on your camera when shooting at something in the distance. The houses at the most western…

Blend is Back!

Blend on the Bayou is a Northeast Louisiana Arts Council annual fundraiser. It’s also a lot of fun! So make a good time count for something bigger, like supporting the arts in our area. Put Sunday, April 30, 5-8 pm on your calendar now. The event will be at the River Market in Downtown Monroe. I will be one of many artists with a tableful of artworks for sale via auction or purchase on the spot. My works for sale range from small 10×10 square pieces, like Chipping Sparrow (Spizella passerina), up to a 19×13 print framed 24×18 titled Scouts…
