Time to leave the blinds off, to let them float on by unhindered. Let in the light. People who work in the public eye get my respect, which I try to show by making pictures of them working. If they see me and respond to me and my camera, that’s great! But sometimes they can’t. This man is…

#AdventWord #Recompense

It is quite pretty from below. So, look up as you climb the central staircase of the public library of Chicago. When you get to the top, pause. Consider. Reflect. Witness recompense for human folly, measured in dog tags, a pair for every U.S. soldier who died in Vietnam. I hate war as only a soldier who has lived it can, only as one who has seen its brutality, its futility, its stupidity. –Dwight D. Eisenhower

February: Chicago

If you know me well, you know I go to Chicago several times a year to indulge in opera. That started, according to my Google calendar, in 2011. But I think it was the very next year, 2012, that I contacted an online acquaintance via the now defunct Google+ social media platform that was so much loved and used by photographers around the world. It was in a couple online shows earlier this year and is now hanging in the show called “Spot On #5” in the D’Art Gallery in downtown Denver. You will hear more about this gallery soon, as…

Something Old, Something New

Well, not that old! But Red Flags over Atlanta has been around since 2018 and has been in quite a few shows. If you’ve been reading this blog for awhile, you know I love construction sites, and this is one of my first successful #HardHatArt #PerformanceArt images. I call them that out of great regard for the hard hats who stare at blueprints and wiring and plumbing diagrams and miraculously produce beautiful, functional buildings. It is an amazing feat. Visually, I am fascinated by the highly transitory patterns, textures and colors that change daily as the hard hats work. That…
