It’s a colorful world out there! And some of my most colorful works are currently in shows. The three above are all in the “Small Works” show at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. Many galleries host small works shows in the fall to make modestly priced art available to Christmas shoppers. My pieces are all 7×7 prints in a 12×12 frame. This is the second time the RI Watercolor Society has included my work in one of their occasional open-media shows. And I’m tickled pink! I have a great admiration for watercolor and would love to be able to do…

“Dune Jazz” on a Roll
It’s one of my favorite pieces. Why? Well, in part because it reminds me of my life journey. Growing up in Iowa, this kind of fence was a common site.., but it was holding snow instead of white sand! It lined the highways for miles, so that when wind hit the fence, it slowed down and dropped its burden of snow at the fence instead of on the highway. Now, who can resist that? “Blend on the Bayou” is the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council’s annual fundraiser. This year I have put four pieces on the silent auction. Scouts Clean Up Black Bayou Lake is one of them. The scene is a scout troupe paddling out onto the lake to participate in one of Ouachita Green’s “water clean-up” days by picking trash out of our lakes, bayous and river. Thanks, scouts! This pigment print, framed 20×16 in a black wood…
November: Chicago
It’s a good month to go to Chicago: not yet so dreadfully cold as to keep me indoors, and hotel prices have gone down! November 26, 2022 – Downtown Chicago decks out for Christmas. One thing you can always count on is a huge Christmas tree in Water Tower Square. Adam, one of the photog friends I hang out with in Chicago, polished this big silver ball with his sleeve before we took our selfies. Sadly, I didn’t quite manage to get our reflections in focus, but I really like the photo anyway. That’s the Water Tower behind us, a…
