It’s the biggest arts party in Northeast Louisiana, and it’s happening Sunday, March 23, 5-7:30 p.m. in the TCE Lobby of the Clarke M. Williams Innovation Campus, 100 Century Link Dr., Monroe.

I and lots of other local artists will be there with up to five artworks each available via silent auction, so it’s a great opportunity to add to your collection for a reasonable price. Moreover, the food, beverages, and live entertainment are more than worth the price of admission.

A percent of art sales plus ticket prices benefit the Northeast Louisiana Arts Council, so your fun time will also go to a great cause. The Council does much to support the arts and thereby enhance the quality of life in our corner of the state. Go to their website to buy tickets.

The three pieces with this post will be among my offerings in the silent auction. Flight of the Egrets was made out at the D’Arbonne Spillway. Squirrel Monkey (Saimiri oerstedii) is from my wildlife photography trip to the Osa Peninsula of Costa Rice a few years ago. Both are limited edition archival pigment prints on photo paper, matted and framed.
Gárgolas, España is a unique piece. It is a silver print made by me in a wet darkroom from a black & white 35mm negative. The subject matter is a trio of gargoyles on a church in Spain. I would have to dig into my journals from the summer I spent in Spain in the 1970s to get more precise than that, and maybe I will by Sunday. In any case, this is a true, vintage, one-of-a-kind handmade print that I pulled out of storage and framed a few years ago. The mat is conservation quality charcoal gray and the frame is metal.
Hope to see you Sunday. We’re gonna pass a good time!
