Colorful World

It’s a colorful world out there! And some of my most colorful works are currently in shows.

The three above are all in the “Small Works” show at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society. Many galleries host small works shows in the fall to make modestly priced art available to Christmas shoppers. My pieces are all 7×7 prints in a 12×12 frame.

This is the second time the RI Watercolor Society has included my work in one of their occasional open-media shows. And I’m tickled pink! I have a great admiration for watercolor and would love to be able to do it. The gallery is located in Slater Memorial Park at 831 Armistice Blvd, Pawtucket, RI.

Palm Psalm

There’s something about the way sunlight shines through the palms on Dauphin Island, Ala., that makes for appealing photos! This one is the first of several that have been well-received by art-world jurors.

Palm Psalm is in a show called “Vibrant.” Fitting, don’t you think? The host is Art Mozaik Fine Art Gallery, 713 Canyon Rd., Santa Fe, NM.

My artist’s statement talks about the importance of framing. Occasionally I make an image that is not done justice by the plain, standard gallery frame I use most of the time. This print is an example. It is in a vintage white-painted, carved wood frame that sets of the vibrant color and elegant curve of the palm branch.

Both of these shows will be up until the end of September.
